“I’d lived in Cork my whole life and never been inside half these places,” Niamh says. “It made me fall back in love with the city. That sounds soppy, but it’s true.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mentorship that mattered most<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The money helped. Niamh is clear that it wasn’t the most valuable part.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Martin introduced her to his accountant, who helped her register as a sole trader and set up her books properly. He talked her out of signing a lease on an expensive unit in the city centre and towards a shared workshop in Blackpool with lower rent and room to grow.
